The random things

So recently I had a major milestone pass by and I wanted to post a picture for you. It was my son in heaven’s {what would have been} 5th birthday. If you have read my earlier posts, you would have seen my story about Trisomy 18 and having it affect my unborn child. All is good and we have a little boy in heaven and we are completely ok with it. An angel always looking out for us and waiting to meet us for eternity…we are blessed.

So every year we celebrate by taking a trip to the cemetery. Our kids come along and we reflect on their brother, our son. It’s a good feeling. It’s the random things.

As May presents it’s beautiful flowers, we can be reminded of how beautiful life is and how the little things are what really make up the big things in our lives. I spent some time with the kiddos outside this past week and really enjoyed the simplicity of life in their little bodies. An umbrella was all the rage. Even on a sunny day. Living through the eyes of a child is like jumping into the fountain of youth!

Enjoy your

Just beanie

I was searching the blogosphere and came across this adorable craft for Easter. It calls for felt {which alot of us don’t have on hand} but if you can muster up energy to pick some up, it looks like it will be well worth it. That take us to Qmade and her Jelly Bean Garland. I can’t get over how adorable this garland is and how easy it is to make {with the handy machine of course}. So fun and so cheery. That bunny is going to be so jealous. Get sewing!

Q made Blog and her Jelly Bean Garland

So a few posts back {but not many as I have been a bit busy over here} I talked about the card keeper and how awesome of an idea to keep them altogether in an easy to read book. Well I finally got around to doing it myself and wanted to post a pic of mine.

It’s not as perfect as it could be but just enough. I wrote in the info and actually had planned on printing it and placing it on the card. Oh well. Next one.

And here in the DC area, Spring has arrived and we are loving every minute of it. Dogwoods are blooming, the smell of lilacs are wafting in the breeze and Julia is enjoying the weather and fresh air. Goodbye Old man winter…until next time.

my cowgirl can’t help but make a silly pose when I ask her too!

Happy day

Nothing beats a visit to a park. Serene settings, rolling brooks and your happy children swinging on a beautiful spring day.

Now what with all these cards?

Make a card keeper! I came across this very nifty way to keep cards together from the year and still be able to go through them when you want to get nostalgic. Let’s face it, having all these cards sitting around in piles makes me itch. Well this is destinined to make that itch go away. I have gathered up my supplies, just need to get my piles organized by year and I should be done. I’ll post my pics when I get there. For now you can get started by following the directions below from Disneys’ Family fun site.

Here is a clip of the directions…

Now go get started. I have to say their site has lots of fun crafts and holiday ideas for the little one and big {little one, like myself} in your family. Happy crafting.

Lately from my phone

I was looking at my phone and going over my recent snaps of a moment in my life. I’m going to share this past week with you. It’s kinda like a phone pic disappears into time because you just keep snapping and eventually look back and are like…awww. So here are a few. 20110331-102742.jpg
George waited patiently for his sister to get out of school. Getting big!

Julia posing with her new tiara {she likes hoodies too} and her awesome left over birthday balloons.

Getting ready to go riding in daddy’s helmet {over my dead body :) }

A overhead lamp I’m eying at Ballard.com. I’m actually eyeing like 100.

I have to mention that I have fallen in love with the new Coke machine at a certian 5 Guys. I never go there and went there last week with some friends after ballet practice {for Julia not me!}. Love those fries and this…

It’s touchscreen. So cool and Jetson-ish. Who would have thought we would be like the Jetsons one day. Who?

Birthdays galore

It’s been a while since I posted. You’ll have to excuse me. It has been INSANE around here. Lucky me…both of my kids had a birthday in the past 2 weeks. So you can imagine what this house has been like. Not to mention, 2 other parties we attended the same week. Calgon take me away…NOW! For a gift to myself I am going to go ahead and book a massage and facial next week. Now really, lucky me. :) {thanks to a gift certificate…really lucky me}.

So my kids birthdays were really great. One turned one and the other turned three. This is one hell of a busy family these days and I wouldn’t change it for a thing. Having these little munchkins in my house is a blessing and nothing compares to raising children. Nothing. I love it!

I am going to end this post now as I need to get to bed. Just made some delicious cookies for Julia’s preschool tomorrow. Can’t wait to eat them. Plus, I have so much other stuff to share with you on next post that I need to rest this weary head. Zzzzz…

Picasso-esque

Julia showed us a picture of a girl. Never really saw her draw one so much clearer. I think it’s pretty cool. Too bad it was on an erasable board. Next purchase at the store…more drawing paper…priceless.

Parades and low down

When Irish {Scottish} eyes are smiling…

…since the kids are better, family events are slowed for another week or so and we are back on our daily schedule. Wahoo. Our week was really nice and we topped it off with a St. Patricks Day Parade {albeit 2 weeks early}. Julia had a blast! We plopped ourselves down near the grandstand and the speakers played our favorite Irish songs and Julia wore herself out clapping, marching and imitating all the creatures in The Unicorn Song by the Irish Rovers.

On another note…

I have to relay something I read in an article about the new iPad 2 coming out this week. As I read about it’s awesomeness, I came across this quote  and just love the explanation about buyers remorse. Just admit it, we have all been there. But are you hard on yourself or easy to your esteem…”We are geared to recover quickly and to repair our threatened self-esteem due to poor decision-making. The best thing to do is to just do it, whatever it is,” Tsiros said. “You will be glad you did, whatever you did. And for those who are cursed to regret everything they do or don’t do — where their repairing mechanism is faulty– it doesn’t matter, either. No matter what you do, you will wish you didn’t.”

And onto another note…

Gotta check out this cute clip. It’s Jen Aniston’s little viral video. I don’t normally post this stuff but I have to post this. A cute take on a viral video.

Our Blessed Boy

This past week, we entered George into the Christian faith. It was a wonderful event and he was an angel! He never made a peep and it was so surreal and holy. Many family and friends came to the event to see George join the faith. He will forever walk with the Lord!

In other news:

I am going to have a niece this summer! So excited. I just saw her sono picture for the first time. I love these pics because they actually do look like the sono when they arrive. :) She’s beautiful! Here is a pic… {hope they let me keep it up here} It’s a realy cute post too.
